This course is designed to ensure that those who work for and/or are named on a delegate authority agreement are capable of carrying out the functions required.
Under the binder, operatives must be able to competently:
- Work within the scope of their delegated authority
- Adhere to the regulatory and compliance framework in place
- Understand the construction of an insurance policy
- Where applicable:
- Assess and underwrite risks
- Assess and/or settle claims
- Liaise with intermediary markets and/or direct customers
- Uphold the reputation and interest of security

This course is designed to ensure those seeking or that have delegated authority (e.g. from Lloyd's of London) can competently manage the agreement and in the best interests of the security.
As responsible persons they must be able to competently:
- Manage the responsibilities of a binder agreement/delegated authority
- Develop and implement strategic plans that include how the business will develop and grow as well as identify suitable marketing opportunities and distribution channels
- Manage the operational risks of a delegated authority business
- Select suitable personnel
- Evaluate and interpret the portfolio trends and results
- Where applicable:
- Assess and underwrite the risk
- Negotiate and settle claims
- Uphold the reputation and interest of security
