Career History

Gordon has provided marketing and technical training, consulting and risk management services to insurers and businesses since 1991. Prior to this, he worked in many different roles, both at branch, Australian and International Head Office levels for general insurers. His main career focus was in general insurance, underwriting as well as spending time studying overseas aspects of insurance in North America, Canada and the UK.

Gordon has been an accredited assessor, trainer and technical resource for the National Insurance Brokers Association of Australasia. He is also a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and was Chairman of the Institutes Journal Committee for several years.

Gordon is only one of two persons to be twice awarded the Vines prize for published Journal articles, has lectured and examined at TAFE, and the University of Technology Fellowship program for property insurance subjects.

Part of Gordon’s recent roles has been to script training courses for, and lecture in corporation risk management, reinsurance, insurance law and other general insurance subjects in both Chinese and Vietnamese insurance markets.

Some of his recent training and educational activities have included:

• Writing study texts and conducting training for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority in underwriting and claims
• Conducting management and marketing training for mangers of the Peoples Insurance Company of China Head Office & Regional Branches
• Conduction various training courses in Shanghai and Beijing for China Pacific Insurance Company and other clients
• Scripting and conducting various training programs in Hanoi for the Ministry of Finance as a prelude to establishing the Insurance Institute of Vietnam
• Scripting and reviewing on-line technical articles in general insurance law and practice for Kaplan Education’
• Editing Various training programs for NIBA
• Conducting specific training courses for brokers
• Conducting compliance audits of authorized representatives 

Current Responsibilities

Gordon is the Director of Courses for Proed College and continues to provide consultancy services to the financial services industry.
